Perhaps you did not know that the class of 1983 has a scholarship fund? We do! It was set up in 1993 -- at the time of our 10th Reunion -- using $25,000 in unrestricted gifts to Mother Wellesley. As of April 1, 2017, our fund had a market value of $63,301 -- just $615 shy of the cost of one year's tuition, fees, room and board at Wellesley -- OMG. Since then, that value has increased, thanks to classmates who earmarked their annual gifts to Wellesley to our Class Scholarship Fund.
Last year we contributed to the Wellesley education of Annie Chen '18. This year, Annie remains our Designated Scholarship Recipient. Annie is from Troy, Michigan. To the left is her LinkedIn photo. She is majoring in Economics, with a minor in Management (via studies at MIT). Last summer, she worked at Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington DC. This year she serves as Class Council VP and Co-President of the MIT Poker Club.
I could not resist sharing another photo of Annie (with adorable shih tzu), taken a few years earlier. It's from her Twitter account.
If you would like to make a gift -- of any amount --- and designate it for the Class of 1983 Scholarship Fund, you will know exactly how your gift is helping a Wellesley student. You will be a star among a class of other stars by helping our one and only Banana Class reach this year's Participation Goal of 55% by June 30th. When it is announced in July that we achieved our goal, you can smile because you made it happen. Here is the super easy link.THANK YOU for being AWESOME!!
